Celebrating the Spring Festival in My Family
Introduction
The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional festival for Chinese people. Preparations
In the days leading up to the festival, we thoroughly clean our home to sweep away bad luck and make room for good fortune. Red paper cuttings and couplets are pasted on windows and doors to bring prosperity. Shopping for new clothes and preparing special foods are also essential tasks during this period. My mother spends hours cooking delicious dishes like dumplings, fish, and rice cakes, which symbolize wealth and abundance.
Family Reunion
On New Year's Eve, all family members gather together for a grand dinner. The atmosphere is warm and lively, filled with laughter and stories. After dinner, we watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV while eating snacks. At midnight, firecrackers are set off to welcome the new year, creating a spectacular display of light and sound.
Celebration and Traditions
During the following days, we visit relatives and friends, exchanging greetings and red envelopes containing money as gifts. Children are particularly excited about receiving these lucky packets. On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the Lantern Festival marks the end of the celebrations, bringing the festivities to a colorful close.
The Spring Festival is not just a holiday; it’s a time to cherish family bonds and honor our heritage. It reminds us of the importance of unity and tradition in our lives.
