Good morning, respected teachers and colleagues. It is my great honor to stand here and share my lesson plan for the junior high school English class.
Today, I will be presenting a speaking lesson on the topic of "My Daily Routine". This lesson is designed for students in the second year of junior high school, who have already learned basic vocabulary and simple sentence structures. The purpose of this lesson is to help students improve their spoken English by describing their daily activities and expressing time-related expressions.
The teaching objectives of this lesson include:
1. Knowledge Objectives: Students will be able to use time expressions such as "at 7:00", "in the morning", "after school", and learn to describe their daily routines using present simple tense.
2. Ability Objectives: Students will be able to communicate effectively in English about their daily life, and practice listening and speaking skills through group discussions and role-plays.
3. Emotional Objectives: Students will develop an interest in learning English and become more confident in speaking in front of others.
For the teaching process, I will follow the following steps:
First, I will start with a warm-up activity. I will play a short video showing different people doing their daily activities. Then, I will ask some questions like “What does he do in the morning?” or “When does she go to school?” to activate students' prior knowledge and introduce the new topic.
Next, I will present the key vocabulary and phrases related to time and daily activities. I will use pictures and real-life examples to make the content more engaging. After that, I will guide the students to practice the sentences through repetition and drilling.
Then, I will move on to the speaking practice. I will divide the class into pairs and ask them to talk about their own daily routines. They can use the structure “I usually... at...” or “I go to school...”. During this time, I will walk around the classroom to provide assistance and encourage students to speak more confidently.
After the pair work, I will invite a few students to perform in front of the class. This will not only help them practice their speaking but also build their confidence. Finally, I will summarize the key points of the lesson and assign homework, which includes writing a short paragraph about their daily routine and preparing a short presentation for the next class.
In terms of assessment, I will observe students’ participation during the speaking activities and give them feedback. I will also check their written homework to evaluate their understanding of the vocabulary and grammar.
In conclusion, this lesson aims to create a supportive and interactive environment where students can practice their English speaking skills. Through various activities, students will not only learn how to express their daily routines but also gain more confidence in using English in real-life situations.
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your valuable comments and suggestions.
